Chicks in Chaps Entertain at Rodeo Half Time Show!
The Coweta Chicks in Chaps Open Team is an Equestrian Drill Team made up of young riders from Coweta and surrounding counties. Equestrian Drill is a sport historically born out of war when mounted soldiers used drills to maintain order on the battlefield. Modern drill involves thrilling choreographed routines set to music while maintaining its roots by valuing precision and conformity throughout it all! Whether to please a crowd or a judge, these ladies ride to exhibit expert horsemanship, accuracy, and the athleticism of their amazing equine partners! The Coweta Chicks in Chaps Open Team is a private, recent spin-off from our 4-H/Youth Team that allows young adult riders to keep their passion for drill alive after graduating high school. The Youth, Novice, and Green Teams are part of Coweta County 4-H Horse and Pony Club allowing riders from ages 9-18. The Open, Youth, and Novice teams compete five times a year in the Southeastern Mounted Drill Team Association, with Open and Youth also participating and performing at different local events like rodeos, private parties, and parades. If you are interested in joining or in having the Coweta Chicks perform, please contact Coach Hallie Dixon at cowetachicksinchaps2023@gmail.com.
